Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) won a crucial game against Delhi Capitals (DC) on Tuesday in Sharjah. But the game remained in discussion for a heated altercation between Ravi Ashwin and Eoin Morgan. It was all about Ashwin calling Rishabh Pant for an extra run off the last delivery of the 19th over after the ball ricocheted off the latter.

It started with Tim Southee giving Ashwin a send-off after dismissing him and when the latter gave it back, KKR skipper got involved which heated things up. After the match Dinesh Karthik threw light on the incident stating that Morgan wasn’t happy with the Delhi batsmen going for the extra run which was against the spirit of cricket.

“Rahul Tripathi threw the ball, it hit Rishabh Pant, and then ricocheted. And Ashwin called for it and they started to run. I don’t think Morgan appreciates that. I think he’s somebody who, when the ball hits the batsman or the bat, he expects them not to run in the spirit of cricket,” Karthik had said after the match.

However, Virender Sehwag has hilariously trolled Eoin Morgan for his actions reminding him about the ricochet off Ben Stokes’ bat in the World Cup 2019 final which went for four in the final over. The moment was game changing as it helped England managed to the tie scores and then eventually win the trophy in the Super over over boundary count rule.

Sehwag’s dig at Morgan

Sehwag, in his tweet, took a dig at Eoin Morgan mentioning that the England skipper refused to to hold the World Cup trophy in protest to the controversial ricochet off Stokes’ bat that went for four. “On July 14th , 2019 when it ricocheted of Ben Stokes bat in the final over, Mr Morgan sat on a Dharna outside Lord’s and refused to hold the World cup trophy and New Zealand won. Haina ? Bade aaye, ‘doesn’t appreciate’ waale,” he wrote in his tweet.

As for Eoin Morgan, his poor form continued with the bat in the IPL as he got out to Ravi Ashwin later in the game for a second-ball duck.
