The chairman of Bahria town, Malik Riaz Hussain inaugurated the beginning of construction work for Pakistan’s largest stadium with a capacity of over 50000. Hussain, a renowned philanthropist, and business tycoon hope that international action will be revived within 2 years.

Hussain also stated that this move will bring prosperity in the country by providing business opportunities and promote education. The high-profile ceremony was held under the presence of some of the greatest stalwarts from Karachi namely Zaheer Abbas, Javed Miandad, Shoaib Muhammad, Umar Akmal, Shahid Afridi and Fawad Alam.

The stadium will boast features of international standard as stated by ICC such as floodlights, digital scoreboards, LED screens, indoor training facilities, and a hostel. Malik Riaz Hussain claimed that not only will the stadium promote cricket, it will also facilitate other sports such as hockey and football.

The business tycoon stated “The Rafi Cricket Stadium will be built in one and a half years to revive international cricket in Pakistan within the next two years. Not only cricket, we want to revive football and hockey as well. We want to create more employment and business opportunities, spread education to build a prosperous Pakistan.” as quoted as saying by thenews.com.pk.

The renowned philanthropist further added that there will be a five-star hotel constructed adjacent to the stadium. he also revealed his plans to create sanitary awareness among the people of the city to progress towards a clean Karachi.

“We are also building a highly secured five-star hotel (Hyatt Regency), which will be completed with the stadium. It’s very painful to see so much garbage on the streets and we are committed to do whatever we can to rid Karachi of this filth. By virtue of our foolproof security, the residents of Bahria Town Karachi are enjoying a complete sense of security in their gateless homes.” said the founder/chairman of Bahria Town.

He concluded by saying that the ceremony was lit up by the gracious presence of the former cricketers.”It’s good to see my favorite cricket stars at this ceremony, I can’t wait to see international players in action. This stadium will promote women cricket, I’m sure.” It will be interesting to see how this initiative will help bring international cricket back to Pakistan.
