Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan ruled out for three months
He recently underwent a surgery and later shared an update on Instagram.
Shakib Al Hasan, the renowned Bangladeshi all-round cricketer, hasn’t had the best of times of late. He played the recently concluded Asia Cup in the UAE and did reasonably well, but couldn’t play the last two matches against Pakistan and India. On the eve of the Super 4 match against Sarfraz Ahmed’s men in Abu Dhabi, it was learned that he had aggravated his finger injury.
He has been suffering from the injury from the start of the year. Team manager Khaled Mahmud mentioned that he had difficulty in holding the bat and hence, needed to fly home for treatment on an immediate basis. He recently underwent a surgery and later shared an update on Instagram, mentioning that a massive 60-70 cm pus had to be operated out.
I feel better after they took out the pus
Recently, it has been learned that the Jessore-born cricketer has to remain out of action for at least three months as per reports in Cricbuzz. He will now have to wait three more weeks for another surgery. “The moment I arrived in the hospital, the doctors told me that I have to get the pus out as soon as possible.
Any delay would put me in great danger as the infection spread till my wrist. If I had waited another few days, my wrist would have become disabled,” Shakib mentioned
“I feel better after they took out the pus, but the problem is until the infection isn’t gone, there isn’t going to be a surgery on my injured finger. It will take another 2-3 weeks to fix. After surgery I will need eight weeks, which means I am out for three months,” he added.
To add to Shakib’s agony, he has also been toppled by Afghanistan cricketer Rashid Khan as the top all-rounder in the latest ICC ODI rankings.
