Bangladesh announce 15-man squad for the one-off Test against India
Mustafizur Rahman has become a young star in Hyderabad after leading them to their maiden IPL trophy. However, the fans in Hyderabad will not be able to witness the magical cutters from him as the 21-year-old is going to miss the one-off Test against India. The single Test match is to be played from 9th of February to 13th February at the Rajiv Gandhi stadium.
Although Mustafizur has recovered from his surgery he still lacks match fitness. The left arm speedster has had very little match time since coming back from injury and may struggle against the mighty Indians. Another reason being that Bangladesh wants him back to his best for their full series against the Lankans. There is no point in playing him against one of the best batting line-ups in the world as he will have to toil harder.
Minhajul Abedin who is the chairman of selectors explained the condition of the youngster. “Although he (Mustafizur) doesn’t have any problem medically, he still needs to work on his skill fitness,” he said at a press conference. The ‘cutter master’ is replaced by Shafiul Islam who will have huge boots to fill.
Liton Das also has been called upon for this Test. This wicket-keeper batsman impressed the selectors with his double hundred in the Bangladesh Cricket League. Mushfiqur, Mominul Haque, and Imrul Kayes were eventually included in the squad after they reportedly cleared the fitness test.
Mushfiqur Rahim will lead Bangladesh and has a lot of experienced players with him as well. The skipper himself was injured during the series against New-Zealand but has recovered from the head injury and is ready to face the inform Indians. Tamim Iqbal who performs ever so well against the Indians will also travel. Tamim will play an important role for the Tigers in the top order.
