Bangladesh cricketer Syed Rasel lost two years of career due to false medical reports

When a young skiddy left-arm pacer named Syed Rasel broke out at the international scene, many tipped him to be the next big thing in Bangladesh cricket. The talented left armer made his international debut against Sri Lanka back in 2005. He got his opportunities in both formats of the game and impressed everyone with his clinical showing with the ball. His miserly economy rate combined with his ability to break partnerships made him an instant hit in Bangladeshi cricket.

He continued to play for the national side for the next 5 years and scalped 61 wickets in 52 ODIs with an economy rate of 4.63. In the Tests, Syed Rasel featured in 6 Tests for the national side and fetched 12 wickets with an economy of 3.93. It was a dip in form that saw him lose out on his spot in the national side in 2010. However, he strived hard to make a comeback with sporadic good shows in the domestic circuit.

It was just then in the year 2015 that he suffered a shoulder injury. The injury came as a massive blow to his career. What was worse was the ignorance of the medical facilities that cost him 2 subsequent years of his career. He had a checkup done at the Apollo Hospitals. The MRI report from the hospital suggested that all his 4 tendons had a tear. Seeing the adversity of the injury, he was forced to take a break of close to two years in cricket.

However, things went from bad to worse for him when he went for a check up again after two years at the Apollo Hospitals in Mumbai this time. The reports showed that there was a minor tear in a single tendon. The severity of the injury was minimal and all that it could have taken to heal was a maximum of 3 weeks.

Syed Rasel was shattered at knowing the news and recently expressed his grief on the social media. He expressed that the false medical reports cost him his cricket career.
