Bangladesh dressing room in Colombo vandalized; video footage inconclusive
The glass door of the Bangladesh dressing room has been found broken.
Bangladesh has recently qualified for the final of the Nidahas Trophy to be played against India in Colombo. Mahmudullah displayed nerves of steel and guided his team past the finishing line in the must-win encounter against Sri Lanka. However, despite the stupendous victory, the team has encountered a fair bit of turbulence.
Shakib Al Hasan entered into a war of words with the match-officials after which the game was halted for quite a while. Subsequently, the team was bashed for their lack of sportsmanship. Their agony didn’t end there as their dressing room has recently been found in tatters during their last league game. As per reports in Cricbuzz, the glass door in their dressing room has been found broken.
Inconclusive video footage
Investigations have been carried on the incident, however, the video footage is inconclusive and doesn’t indicate the identity of the perpetrator. The ground management has been instructed by Chris Broad, the match referee, to review the video and revert back to him. There were eyewitnesses, who have mentioned that a senior Bangladeshi player slammed the door which caused the damage.
However, Broad didn’t consider the words of the attendees (eyewitnesses) and rather wanted the officials to decipher the issue. It has also been confirmed that the incident sparked after Mahmudullah‘s match-winning six of Isuru Udana. Nevertheless, the officials have claimed to not have seen any player and therefore refrained from naming anyone. Barring the incidents, the team has had an impressive triangular series.
Recently, they recorded their highest run chase against the Lankans courtesy Mushfiqur Rahim’s herculean knock. Though they slumped to defeats in a couple of games against India, they won a game more than Sri Lanka to qualify for the final. Meanwhile, Shakib’s men would be looking to string together another impressive show in the final showdown against Rohit Sharma’s men.
