Prior to the 2019 edition of the World Cup in England and Wales, former New Zealand cricketer Brendon McCullum made some predictions about all the matches. The 37-year-old uploaded a document where his detailed team-wise analysis was presented. Even as his expectations about some of the other teams came true, his forecast of Bangladesh’s matches has terribly gone wrong.

The Tigers played their first match versus South Africa at the Kennington Oval in London. While Baz, believed that the Proteas would come out trumps, Mashrafe Mortaza’s men emerged victorious by 21 runs. Subsequently, they became the first Asian team to beat South Africa two times in the mega event. The outcome of their second game, McCullum predicted correct and Bangladesh lost by two wickets.

They gave New Zealand a run for their money despite not having enough runs on the board. It was the spinners, who brought the Tigers back into the contest. In their next game, England thumped them by 106 runs at the Sophia Gardens. Shakib Al Hasan scored a masterful century, but his efforts went in vain. For the second time, McCullum’s prediction of a Bangladesh match went right.

McCullum’s wrong predictions

However, Baz took a turn and reckoned that Mashrafe’s men would beat Sri Lanka at the County Ground in Bristol. Unfortunately, that game got called off due to a heavy downpour. Thereafter, McCullum said that the Windies would steamroll them in Taunton, but exactly the opposite happened. Bangladesh chased down 322 in 41.3 overs and comprehensively won the match by seven wickets.

Shakib scored an 83-ball ton, thereby becoming the second batsman after Mahmudullah to notch two centuries in a single edition of the World Cup. Liton Das also smacked 94 runs in an unbeaten 189-run stand with Shakib to steer his team through to glory. Subsequently, another one of McCullum’s prediction went haywire. In the meantime, a Bangladesh fan reminded McCullum about the errors.

In a video that is going viral on social media, the supporter is shouting at the former cricketer and saying that Bangladesh has already won two matches. “Hey Mac, Bangladesh already won two matches.” McCullum, standing on the ground, looked at him and gave the fan a thumbs up.
