Amid the COVID-19 outbreak, the cricketers have introduced a new trend of conducting live sessions with other players on social media platforms. And, Rohit Sharma, the Indian opener is finding it quite interesting while in quarantine. Earlier, he was spotted interacting with Yuvraj Singh, Jasprit Bumrah, and others.
And, on Friday evening, he was involved in a live video chat on Facebook with Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal. During the interaction, the Indian Hitman revealed the fact that Team India gets no support when they play in Bangladesh compared to other nations.
In cricket, the spectators present in the stadium always play an important role in the performances of the players. They praise cricketers when they perform well on the field. But, they also mock them if they fail.
Team India is one of those sides that hold some world-class cricket stars in their ranks like Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan, Jasprit Bumrah, and many more. The aforementioned players hold a massive following across the globe. However, this scenario changes when they play in Bangladesh where fans don’t give much support to Men in Blue.
Rohit Sharma says Team India is not used to it
Talking over the same, Rohit Sharma said that the fans are always passionate about the game whether it is Bangladesh or India. He feels that the fans in the neighboring country of India are very particular, who only support their own team.
The 33-year-old added that Team India gets support in every country when they take the field. But, according to him in Bangladesh, they don’t get much backing from the fans in stadiums that sometimes make players uncomfortable.
“I mean India and Bangladesh, the people the cricket fans are passionate about the game, so, every time we make mistakes we are also criticized by everyone, not just the media and also the people who are watching the game. And I’m very sure it’s the same there because I’ve been to Bangladesh myself and I’ve seen how passionate everyone is to watch the game.”
“Especially when we come to the ground to play the match it’s unbelievable, because, India is not used to not having support at the ground and Bangladesh is the only place where we don’t get any support,” Rohit told Tamim in the Facebook live session on Friday.
