Bangladesh off-spinner Sanjit Saha in trouble for suspected bowling action
Along with Sanjit, Nuruzzam Masum, Asif Ahmed Ratul and Shafiul Hayat were reported for a suspect bowling action in the prestigious 50-over tournament.
Young off-spinner Sanjit Saha along with three other bowlers has been reported by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) for suspect bowling action in the Dhaka Premier League 2017. Saha will be travelling with the national team to Dhaka for the national team camp for the preparation of the Australia series. The 19-year-old is in a complete fix as he wishes to get clearance before the start of 2-match Test series.
Along with Sanjit, Nuruzzam Masum, Asif Ahmed Ratul and Shafiul Hayat were reported for a suspect bowling action in the prestigious 50-over tournament. The four guilty players will now undergo a bowling action review in the first week of August. Meanwhile, Bangladesh is scheduled to host the Aussies in a two-match Test series starting later this month.
“We have decided to review their bowling action in the coming week,” said Nasir Ahmed, BCB’s Management Information System (MIS) Manager.
Young lad in trouble again
Earlier during Bangladesh Under-19 tour of India, Sanjit was found to have a suspective bowling action too. However, he took part in the first game of the ICC Under-19 World Cup in Bangladesh but was asked to quit the tournament after questions were raised over his action by the International Cricket Council (ICC). “As far as Sanjit is concerned he seemed to be going back to his old pattern and we need to make sure that is not the case considering his enormous amount of potential,” the Manager added.
No problem in my action
The right-arm off spinner has landed in a troublesome situation again with an illegal bowling action. He seems to have no clue about the present problem. “I am not sure what went wrong because for the first eight games there was no problem with my action,” said Sanjit.”I need to understand my problem and rectify it immediately because it is something that can severely dent my progress that had already been halted after I was found to be guilty during the ICC Under-19 World Cup. Let’s see what can be done but I am confident to find a way out,” he said.
“Still this problem of having illegal bowling action haunts me because it had made me lose the opportunity to represent my country in the Under-19 World Cup,” he added.
Difficult times for the bowlers
Sometimes it is very difficult for the young bowlers to deal with the enormous pressure of bowling in these domestic tournaments. Sanjit is not the first Bangladeshi bowler to be reported for an illegal action, many other bowlers in the past have also been pulled out.
“At times to restrict the run rate you are asked to bowl flatter and faster and it can be the case with him,” said a coach. “He had problem with his faster deliveries when he was initially found out as a bowler with suspect bowling action,” the coach added.
