Bangladesh may receive one more addition to its cricketing calendar if things go as per Bangladesh BCB president Nazmul Hassan’s plans. The chief has said that the board is in talks with the WICB to host West Indies in September.
The West Indies’ tour will be an important event if it materializes as it would fill a substantial void in Bangladesh’s calendar in 2016. The Bangla Tigers haven’t played international cricket since their loss to New Zealand at the World T20 in India in March.
The only other international commitment which the rising Asian team has is tour to India which is being held in August or September. The Bangladeshis are scheduled to play one solitary Test in India. But, since the BCCI announced New Zealand will be touring India in September-October, Bangladesh’s next assignment will be England at home in October, unless the West Indies series gets the nod.
Hassan said Bangladesh are likely to tour India in February, shortly after they complete their tour of New Zealand and before Australia begin their four-match Test series in India.

“We were supposed to go [to India] in August but because they have other commitments they asked us if we are free in January,” Hassan said. “But we have a tour to New Zealand at that time. It looks like the first week of February, but we still haven’t got a specific date [for the one-off Test].
“We have the England series in October and the Bangladesh Premier League in November. Then we go to New Zealand. After the Super League ends this month, there isn’t much time left for the players. We are already communicating with West Indies but nothing has been confirmed yet. They have showed interest but we need to find a time when both sides are free.”
