Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has roped in the services of Delhi veteran Mithun Manhas as a batting consultant for their U- 19 team. The motive behind the appointment of the Indian domestic stalwart is to ensure the pipeline of the national team.

Manhas intends to work towards improving the batting skill and mental strength of young talents in Bangladesh. Also, the fact that Manhas has had previous stints with Mohammaden and Abahani would help him get accustomed to the culture with ease.

“My task will be to enhance batting skills of cricketers; moreover to raise them as good cricketers, my servitude would go to the development of mental skills also. I want to see the young cricketers of this team in the national team and play in the highest position of international cricket,” commented Mithun Manhas according to BDCrictime.

“Yes, it’s definitely an advantage for me. I had played for Abahani and Mohammedan for several seasons. I know many things here and to my pleasure, boys understand Hindi and can talk Hindi like me,” reckoned Manhas as an added advantage to his job.

With an eye on the U-19 World Cup scheduled to be held three months hence, Manhas’ first task has been cut out up front. BCB’s contact with Manhas, however, extends up to 2019 from October 2017.

“Listen, when you are on the battlefield, it is not wise to take anything lightly. The work to do within the field is always tough and improvement is a continuous process,” claimed the former Chennai Super Kings player.

On the recent 3-1 defeat against Afghanistan U-19 team

“It’s not right to judge their ability considering the results of three matches. It could happen sometimes. I request all of you to keep supporting them; they are very young; creating such pressures upon them will crack their confidence level in future,” concluded the Delhi legend.
