Bangladesh to play a tour match ahead of Test against India
Bangladesh is likely to play a practice game prior to the start of their Test series against India. The series is will be a just the one game affair, a Test match that will be played under the banner of the Durjoy-Ganguly series, something that certainly goes on to honour two captains who had a remarkable contribution to the cricket of both the nations.
While nothing has been finalised as of yet, the Bangladesh side will certainly play their first ever Test match on Indian soil in the months to come. In addition, however, neither board is willing to come on record to state any of the reports that have been tossed around in the press in recent times.
A senior member of the BCCI was quoted by Mumbai Mirror saying that the Indian board was certainly willing to accept the requests of the Bangladesh Cricket Board and that a practice match would certainly be granted. “That is the plan but nothing has been finalized as yet,” said a BCCI member without willing to be quoted. “Kolkata is an option.”
It also stated that the BCCI is willing to accede to the request and planning to organise a three-day game before the Test in Hyderabad from February 8, 2017.
This will certainly go a long way when it comes to creating another Test match rivalry for the Indians who are clearly already in a lot of bilateral Test match contests. In recent times, the Indians have been impressive in Test matches and have gone unbeaten in 18 encounters, something no other Indian team had done in the past.
The Indian team bandwagon has also gone on to win the prestigious Anthony D’Mello trophy, the trophy banner under which the India v England series was played under.
