'Bangladesh touring Pakistan will cause problems for India' - Former Pakistan cricketer Rashid Khan
Pakistan this year successfully hosted T20I, ODI and Test series against Sri Lanka.
Bangladesh Cricket Board have given a nod to play T20I series against Men in Green in Pakistan but they are insisting to play Test series on a neutral venue. However, PCB is stern to host the longer format series in their nation against the ‘Tigers’. And, now, the former Pakistan cricketer Rashid Khan has opened up saying that it might cause problems to India.
Pakistan this year successfully hosted T20I, ODI and Test series against Sri Lanka. This was the first time in last one decade that the Men in Green nation managed to host all the three format series in the same year. Moreover, the Test format also marked its return in the country after a tragic terrorist shoot out after which all the countries had cut their cricketing ties with Pakistan.
Pakistan’s former cricketers opine on Bangladesh Cricket
Rashid Khan, the former Pakistan cricketer said that if Bangladesh comes to Pakistan for playing Test series then it might cause problems to India. It is because the hosts will have a bigger chance to clinch the series against Bangladesh. According to him, Pakistan will certainly grab important points in the ongoing ICC Test Championship and that will reduce the gap between Pakistan and India.
“Bangladesh touring Pakistan will cause problems for India because the home side stands a good chance of winning the series. This will reduce the gap in terms of points in the ICC World Test Championship and India probably does not want that to happen. I think the ICC should intervene and ensure that the tour goes ahead,” Rashid Khan said as quoted by The Daily Star.
Wasim Bari, the former wicket-keeper said that Bangladesh has no appropriate reason to deny playing Test series in Pakistan. He pointed out that the Tigers are hesitating and it might be because they will lose important points in Test Championship. There are chances that they might lock horns with the Men in Green as many other teams are also planning to travel Pakistan.
“I don’t understand why Bangladesh is hesitating because they will lose important points with regards to ICC World Test Championship. I hope they will visit Pakistan, especially because MCC and other teams are also planning on coming to Pakistan,” former wicket-keeper said.
