Bangladesh registered their maiden Test win against Australia coming from behind after the Aussies looked favourites to win the game with 120 more runs needed with eight wickets in hand at the start of the 4th day. However, on an eventful penultimate day, the Bangladeshi star, Shakib Al Hasan delivered with the ball taking his 2nd five-wicket haul in the competition to turn the game on its head.

2 – Shakib is the 2nd player in the Test history to do the double of a fifty and ten wickets in a match more than once. Sir Richard Hadlee achieved the double on three different occasions.
3 – Number of consecutive Test matches in Bangladesh where all the 40 wickets were accounted for. None of the 52 Test matches before these three games witnessed the fall of all the 40 wickets.
4 – Shakib’s 10-wicket match haul in this game is only the 4th for Bangladesh and the 2nd of his career. Mehedi Hasan and Enamul Haque Jr picked 12 wickets each in a Test.
4 – David Warner’s century is only the 4th by an Australian in the 4th innings of a Test match in Asia. His hundred is the first among the four that went in vain.
5 – Bangladesh are only the 4th team to defeat Australia in as early as 5th meeting in Test cricket. Pakistan (1st meeting), England (2nd Test) and West Indies (5th Test) are the other three sides who defeated Australia in as early as the 5th meeting in Tests.
6 – This is the 6th Man of the Match award for Shakib Al Hasan in Test cricket. No Bangladesh player has more than three Man of the Match awards in this format.
6 – Number of Test matches Glenn Maxwell has played in his career so far without being part of a winning XI. These are the most Tests for any Australia without featuring in a win. Alan Thompson, Cameron White, Moises Henriques and Xavier Doherty have played four Test each for Australia without tasting victory.
14 – Taijul Islam is the 2nd fastest Bangladesh player to take 50 wickets in Test cricket. He needed 14 Tests for the milestone. Mohammad Rafique completed 50 Test wickets in 13 matches.
