Here are all the major stats and numbers that were recorded during the Dhaka T20I:
Shakib’s all-round feat:
42* – Shakib Al Hasan’s 42 runs are the most by any player while taking a five-wicket haul in T20I cricket. There have been 25 five-fers in this format thus far before this game but David Wiese (21 also against Windies in the 2015 Durban T20I) is the only other player to score a double-digit score in a T20I alongside a five-fer.
2 – This was the second instance for Shakib where he scored 40+ runs and took 4+ wickets in the same T20I game. He is the only player to record this all-round double twice while four other players have achieved once.
Shakib scored 40 and took 4/21 in the 2013 Bulawayo T20I against Bangladesh which was the last instance of 40+ runs and 4+ wickets by a player in the same T20I.
Shakib climbs up in T20 charts:
4 – Number of five-wicket hauls for Shakib Al Hasan in Twenty20 cricket; the joint-most by any player. He is currently tied with David Wiese and Lasith Malinga who also have four 5-fer in T20s.
11 – Number of times Shakib has claimed four and more wickets in a Twenty20 match. Only Lasith Malinga (12) has taken four and more wickets in a T20 game more often than Shakib. The left-arm spinner has four such hauls in T20Is standing only behind Umar Gul (6) and Ajantha Mendis (5).
5/20 – Shakib became only the 3rd player to take a 5-wicket haul in T20I cricket for Bangladesh but the first to do it at home. Elias Sunny took 5/13 against Ireland in the 2012 Belfast T20I while Musatfizur Rahman had figures of 5/22 against New Zealand in the 2016 WT20 game in Kolkata.
New highs for Bangladesh:
1 – This game was the first in the T20I history for Bangladesh where four different players scored 30 and more runs in the same match.
211/4 – Bangladesh’s total of 211/4 is their second 200+ total in T20I format. They made 215/5 while chasing in the Nidahas Trophy this year against Sri Lanka. Their previous highest T20I total while batting first was 193/5 in the Dhaka T20I also against Sri Lanka this year.
211/4 – Bangladesh’s total of 211/4 is the highest for any team in the T20I format in Bangladesh. In this process, Bangladesh surpassed Sri Lanka’s 210/4 which was recorded against them in this year’s Sylhet T20I.
