Bangladesh needed less than four days to wrap-up the one-off Test against Zimbabwe where they registered an innings and 106-run win. Craig Ervine’s century in his maiden Test as captain helped Zimbabwe post 265 in the first innings. The home team’s skipper Mominul Haque (132) laid the platform for a big lead while Mushfiqur Rahim (203*) took the lead to 295 as they declared the inning at 560/6. Spinner Nayeem Hasan and Taijul Islam bowled about 80% of the overs in Zimbabwe’s second innings and shared nine wickets between them to bundle out the visitors to 189.

End of Bangladesh’s losing streak:
6 – This victory brought an end to Bangladesh’s losing streak of six matches that began post their innings and 184-run against West Indies in the Nov-Dec 2018 at Mirpur, Dhaka. These two are the only two innings wins for Bangladesh in their Test history.
A rare win without Shakib:
2 – Only the 2nd time Bangladesh won a Test match without Shakib Al Hasan in the playing XI since his debut in 2007. Bangladesh featured in 19 Tests without Shakib in this period out of which they lost 15 and drew two other matches. The other victory without Shakib was also against Zimbabwe in the 2018 Dhaka Test.
Record double ton for Rahim:
3 – Mushfiqur Rahim now has three of the five double centuries recorded for Bangladesh in Test cricket. Rahim was the first Bangladesh player to score a Test double with his 200 against Sri Lanka in 2013 Galle Test and became the first Bangladeshi with multiple Test double tons with 219* against Zimbabwe in 2018 Dhaka Test.

A hundred of captaincy debut for Ervine:
3 – Craig Ervine became only the 3rd Zimbabwe player to score a century on captaincy debut. David Houghton scored 121 in the 1992 Harare Test against India also during the first innings while Brendan Taylor scored an unbeaten 105 in Zimbabwe’s 2nd innings during the 2011 Harare Test also against Bangladesh.
Mominul equals Tamim:
9 – Number of centuries for Mominul Haque in Test cricket; the joint-most by any player for Bangladesh. He is now levelled with Tamim Iqbal who also struck nine hundreds in this format. Mushfiqur Rahim stands next on this list with seven tons including the unbeaten double ton in this game.
A rare spin bowling opening pair with 4-fers:
3 – Nayeem Hasan (5/82) and Taijul Islam (4/84) became only the 3rd opening pair of spinners to take 4-wicket hauls in the same innings. Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Shakib Al Hasan took 6 and 4 wickets respectively in the 4th innings of the 2016 Dhaka Test against England while Dilruwan Perera and Akila Dananjaya took 4 and 5 wickets respectively in South Africa’s 1st innings during the 2018 Colombo’s SSC Test.
Highest score for Bangladesh skipper at home:
132 – The 132-run knock by Mominul Haque is now the highest Test score by a Bangladesh captain at home. Mahmudullah scored an unbeaten 101 in the 2018 Dhaka Test also against Zimbabwe. Earlier in 2008, Mohammad Ashraful scored 101 against Sri Lanka also in Dhaka.
This was Mominul’s maiden Test match as captain at home but featured in three Tests as Bangladesh Test captain away from home. He aggregated only 115 runs across six innings in the previous 3 Tests including a pair.
Chakabva’s record in dismissals:
5 – Regis Chakabva claimed 5 catches in Bangladesh’s 1st innings which makes him only the 3rd Zimbabwe wicketkeeper to take 5 catches in a Test inning. Wayne James in Sri Lanka’s first innings during the 1994 Bulawayo Test and Andy Flower during the 2000 Nottingham Test in England’s 2nd innings also took five catches.
