Bangladeshi skipper Mushfiqur Rahim shocks the world with his on-field antics
A 35-run partnership between Dinesh Chandimal and Asela Gunaratne ensured that Sri Lanka would not lose the 4th wicket any soon. Gunaratne was dismissed by the opening bowler Subashis Roy at the stroke of lunch when he was caught right in front of the middle stump. Chandimal was the only shining light throughout the first two sessions on the first day of the Second Test.
Dhananjaya de Silva walked into the crease to put up another short yet match saving partnership against the inspired Bangladeshi bowlers. Niroshan Dickwela too added a massive contribution of 34 runs to help Chandimal propel the innings. Dickwela’s dismissal at the score of 180 runs made the job tough for Chandimal. A short partnership between Dilruwen Perera and Chandimal drove the total to 195 runs. Herath’s contribution of 25 was massive regarding the way the innings was shaping.
The pair added 55 runs to help Sri Lanka tally their innings to reach 250 runs for the loss of nine wickets. Chandimal’s gusty innings of 138 came to an end with the score reading 305 runs.
The incident happened in the 111th over the innings when the no 11 batsmen Sandakan flicked a ball straight into the basket of the short in fielder, with the fielder visibly in pain. Sandakan, courtesy sake went to apologise to the short in fielder before being pushed aside by the wicketkeeper Mushfiqur Rahim.
Mushfiqur Rahim forcefully pushed Sandakan, who was just apologising and checking if the short in fielder was fine. Mushfiqur has been involved in a whole set of controversies, and his attitude has always put him into trouble. This has created an outrage among the Facebook users, where people started branding him as a “no-brainer”.
