Batsman Jasprit Bumrah knocks down Cameron Green with a powerful hit in the practice game
Green will now go through a possible concussion assessment.
Team India is currently playing the three-day day-night warm-up game against Australia A at the Sydney Cricket Ground. This is a crucial outing for the visitors as they will be playing their first Pink ball Test (and second overall) in Australia. A few Test hopefuls are also playing for Australia A and one among them is Cameron Green who is being tipped to play the first game of the four-match series starting on December 17.
But his ambitions were dealt with a huge blow on Friday on the first day of the ongoing warm-up game. He was bowling well keeping a lid on the opposition batting line-up and had also picked a crucial wicket of Shubman Gill. But the hosts were frustrated with a last wicket stand between Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj. The duo batted superbly to bail India out of trouble.
However, during the partnership, an unfortunate incident took place as Cameron Green, while delivering his 7th over of the innings, was hit on the head by Bumrah. He smacked the short of a length delivery straight back to the bowler who was surprised with the ball coming back at him at a searing pace. Though Green made an effort to catch it, it ended up hitting him on his head.
He was down soon after the blow and though Cameron Green looked fine, he left the field. The all-rounder will now go through the mandatory concussion assessment and is also likely to be checked for any possible facial fracture.

Another injury scare for Australia
Meanwhile, this is another injury scare for Australia ahead of the first Test. Cameron Green had slammed century in the previous warm-up game and also bowled well. He was being tipped to be the seam bowling all-rounder of the team. But this injury will make the Australia management worry as a possible concussion will rule him out of the series opener in Adelaide.
Moreover, David Warner is also set to miss the first Test and with Joe Burns also struggling for runs at the top of the order, the hosts will have to be at their best against a top bowling attack of India. More updates on Cameron Green’s health is expected to arrive soon.
