BBL 07, Match 27 Preview: Perth Scorchers prepare for a high-profile clash against the Strikers

As though this tournament hasn’t given us good games thus far, Perth Scorchers and Adelaide Strikers are locking horns on Saturday. Both these sides have been undoubtedly playing magnificent cricket. They both occupying the top two spots is a testament to that fact. They almost confirmed their place in the semifinals, but they wouldn’t want to lose their momentum.

The Scorchers suffered a painful defeat to the Thunder despite a spirted show from their middle order. That defeat averted them a chance to take the top spot in the league. But they can square it up with a win this match. Their skipper Adam Voges has been suspended for slow overrate and Klinger might be taking the responsibilities for this big match.

The Strikers’ dream run doesn’t seem like ending in the near future. It’s their appetite for success which is really been the talking point of the tournament. The Strikers are firmly in contention to lift the trophy this year and they’d wanna prove their worth by winning this big game.

Adelaide Strikers

Alex Carey and Jack Weatherald have been amongst the runs, much to the delight of his skipper. Travis Head too has been in good nick, but Colin Ingram has stolen the show with his rendition thus far. They have some other decent names in their tank like Michael Neser, Jonathan Wells, who can spank the long ball. Peter Siddle is in great form with the ball and Rashid Khan’s supremacy needs no introduction. Billy Stanlake and Ben Laughlin are the other bowling options for Head.

Matthew Kelly, Joel Paris and Mitchell Johnson will be forming the fast bowling contingent. Tim Bresnan might be playing the all-rounder role for his side in the absence of David Willey.

One of the best spinners in the world right now, Rashid Khan is causing a lot of problems to the batters. His variations and subtle changes are earning a lot of wickets. He already picked up 11 wickets in the tournament and also has the best economy rate amongst all the bowlers. If these stats are anything to judge by, this guy is clearly on the verge of greatness.

Cameron Bancroft (Perth Scorchers)

After scoring a fifty on debut against England, Cameron Bancroft failed to impress in the rest of the series. His place in the side is under threat right now, but there is a good chance of him bouncing back. He played a brilliant innings under pressure in the previous game and proved his worth. Bancroft needs more runs after his name to keep up the faith shown by the Australian national selectors.
