BBL 2018-19: Rashid Khan is set to invent a new shot during the tournament

Afghanistan leg-spinner Rashid Khan has often hogged the limelight for his antics with the ball. He is the best in the business at the moment trumping some of the top batsmen going around in the world cricket. But these days he has been regarded as the all-rounder thanks to his heroics with the willow. Rashid has made a name for him by playing the helicopter shot in the ongoing Mzansi Super League (MSL) which went viral on social media in a jiffy.

He is set to feature in the upcoming season of the Big Bash League (BBL) for Adelaide Strikers. He was with them during the team’s title-winning triumph last year as well and now has extended his contract with the Strikers. Rashid is the X-factor which every team would love to possess and he will be the key for their success even this year while his batting is an added weapon now for the Afghan cricketer.

Rashid responds to Jones’ request

Rashid Khan was trending on social media recently after playing the MS Dhoni-invented helicopter shot quiet a few times. Even the former Australian cricketer Dean Jones was delighted to watch him superbly bat while playing for the Durban Heat during the ongoing MSL. To extend the conversation, the number 1 ODI all-rounder expressed his excitement to play the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).

Soon after his tweet, Dean Jones requested him to unleash a bigger helicopter shot during the BBL this season. However, Rashid Khan was quick to respond saying that he will play the Afghani helicopter during the Australian T20 extravaganza. Having said that, the 20-year-old would look to concentrate on his bowling first and then, if the team needs, will be contributing with the bat lower down the order.

The Strikers might also surprise many teams by promoting him up the order as the pinch-hitter and Rashid will certainly be the entertainer if he manages to connect a few.
