The Big Bash League 2019-20 comes down to the final with the Sydney Sixers hosting the Melbourne Stars at the SCG. The Sixers has not won the BBL title since winning the inaugural edition while the Stars never won even once despite consistent results in every season.

The new playoff system helped the Stars get into the final even after losing the Qualifier against the Sixers. The Stars finished as the table-toppers during the league phase as they won a record eight consecutive matches at one stage.

All the key stats and numbers that matter ahead of the BBL 2019-20 final between Sixers and Stars:

0-2 – Melbourne Stars lost both the BBL finals they played thus far – against Sydney Thunder by 3 wickets in 2015-16 and against Melbourne Renegades in 2018-19 by 13 runs.


1 – Sydney Sixers has lost only one of their last 11 BBL matches at the Sydney Cricket Ground – against Brisbane Heat by 48 runs earlier this season. They won 8 of the remaining ten matches in this period while one game each ended in a Tie (vs Thunder with they won in Super Over) and without a result (vs Hurricanes).


1 – The Saturday’s game will be the first BBL final at home for the Sydney Sixers. They played three BBL finals thus; all against Perth Scorchers and all being away matches for them – Won by 7 wickets in 2011-12, Lost by 4 wickets in 2014-15 and Lost by 9 wickets in 2016-17.


3-3 – Sydney Sixers and Melbourne Stars faced off in six BBL matches at the SCG with both teams winning three apiece. Perth Scorchers (4) and Stars (3) are the only teams against which the Sixers lost three or more BBL matches at the SCG.


20 – Haris Rauf has picked up 20 wickets in this BBL across nine matches only. These are the joint-most number of wickets for a bowler in his maiden BBL edition equaling Tom Curran’s 20 wickets in 2018-19. Rauf’s 20 wickets are only behind Chris Morris and Tom Curran’s 22 wickets this season in the list of most wickets by an overseas bowler in an edition of BBL.


99 – Number of wickets for Sean Abbott in the Big Bash League. He needs one more wicket to become the 2nd player after Ben Laughlin (110) to claim 100 wickets in the BBL history.


214 – Marcus Stoinis has aggregated 214 runs across three matches in this edition against the Sixers which includes the record individual score of 147*. He is the only player to score 200+ against an opponent in an edition of BBL.


430 – Glenn Maxwell has aggregated 430 runs in the BBL against Sydney Sixers while no other player has even scored 350 runs against them. These 430 runs came across 12 innings at a strike rate of 157.5 with help of four fifties.


695 – Marcus Stoinis has scored 695 runs thus far in the 2019-20 BBL; the most runs by a player in a single edition of the Big Bash League. He is also the only player with seven fifty-plus scores in a single BBL edition.
