The defending champions Melbourne Renegades continue their losing spree which now reads seven as they lost to the Perth Scorchers by six wickets. Sam Harper (73 off 46) and Beau Webster (59* off 40) scored fifties to help the Renegades finish on 175/5 after a slow start.

The Scorchers’ opening pair of Liam Livingstone (59 off 39) and Josh Inglis (51 off 33) shared a 102-run opening stand in 10.1 overs. Despite the Scorchers lost wickets in the 2nd half of the chase, they reached the target with an over to spare.

All the statistical highlights from the Scorchers’ comfortable 176-run chase over the Renegades:

Melbourne Renegades’ losing streak continues:

7* – Melbourne Renegades now have lost all the seven matches they played in this Big Bash League. They are the only 2nd team to lose seven or more consecutive matches in an edition of BBL. The Sydney Thunder lost all the 8 matches they played in the 2012/13 season.

Perth Scorchers dominate Renegades yet again:

10/12 – Perth Scorchers have defeated the Melbourne Renegades ten times out of the 12 meetings in the Big Bash League. The Renegades won only two BBL games over the Scorchers; both during the 2018-19 edition.

A record knock from Sam Harper:

73 – Sam Harper’s 73 is now the highest individual score for the Renegades in the BBL against the Scorchers. The previous highest was Aaron Finch’s 72 in the 2015-16 edition at the Docklands. Harper’s 73 is the 6th highest score in Renegades-Scorchers BBL matches but the top five knocks were recorded for the Scorchers.

Another century opening stand for the Perth Scorchers:

2/3 – Only three century partnerships have been recorded in the ongoing edition of the Big Bash League. Out of those three, two came between the Scorchers’ opening pair of Liam Livingstone and Josh Inglis. The duo added 124 runs for the opening wicket during their unsuccessful chase against the Adelaide Strikers.

Kane Richardson @ 100:

100 – Kane Richardson became only the 3rd player to claim 100 wickets on Australian soil in the Twenty20 format. The wicket of Josh Inglis was his 100th T20 wicket in Australia. Ben Laughlin (110) and Sean Abbott (103) are the other bowlers with 100+ T20 wickets in Australia.

A rare duck for Aaron Finch:

3 – Only the 3rd time Aaron Finch got out for a duck in the Big Bash League and the duck on Tuesday was his first golden duck in the league history. He was bowled by GS Sandhu of Thunder in the 2013-14 season on the 2nd ball while Mitchell Johnson got him caught behind on the 5th ball during the 2017-18 season also against the Scorchers.
