Melbourne Renegades finished off the 2019-20 BBL with a win and knocked Brisbane Heat out of playoff qualification on Monday. Brisbane could only post 154/7 in what was a do-or-die match for them. Matt Renshaw’s 47-ball 65 played a key role in pushing the team’s total past 150.

In reply, the Renegades were three down for 68 in the 10th over before Aaron Finch (63* off 49) joined hands with Mohammad Nabi (38* off 28). The duo shared an unbeaten 87-run partnership to take Renegades through to a win with four balls to spare.

All the statistical highlights from Melbourne Renegades’ winning finish to the 2019-20 BBL:

Yet another win for Renegades over Heat:

10 – Brisbane Heat is the first team against whom the Melbourne Renegades won as many as ten BBL matches. The two teams faced off in 13 BBL games thus far with the Brisbane team winning only three. The Heat now has lost ten matches apiece against Hobart Hurricanes and Renegades.

Nabi’s record in chases:

26-1 – This match was the 27th instance of Mohammad Nabi remaining unbeaten during a run-chase in the Twenty20 format. Nabi’s teams successfully chased down the target of 26 occasions and lost only once.

The only time Nabi was unbeaten in an unsuccessful chase was during the 2012-13 BPL Qualifier. Nabi walked out to bat in the final over of the Sylhet Royals’ chase against Dhaka Gladiators but didn’t face a delivery. Seven runs were needed from the last two balls but Elton Chigumbura could only get two runs.

A big season with the bat for Webster and Finch:

425 – Beau Webster finished off the 2019-20 season with 425 runs; the 2nd most by any player in a BBL season for the Melbourne Renegades. Shaun Marsh is on the top of this list having scored 449 runs across 12 innings in this edition only.

Webster scored 400 of his runs while batting at No.4 and lower positions which makes him the 2nd player with 400+ runs in a BBL edition while batting outside top three. Jonathan Wells of Adelaide Strikers has 444 runs while batting outside top four in the ongoing season.

363 – Aaron Finch’s 363 runs in this season are the most by him in a Big Bash League edition. His previous most was 354 runs across 8 innings in the 2016/17 season. Finch’s tally is the 3rd highest for any Renegades player in a BBL season behind Shaun Marsh (449) and Webster (425) who scored 400+ runs in this season only.

Yet another economical spell from Mujeeb:

6 – Mujeeb ur Rahman conceded only 14 runs during his four overs in this match. This was the 6th time Mujeeb had an economy of 4 or less in a BBL match (Min: 4 overs). Fawad Ahmed had eight such matches in the Big Bash League while Mujeeb’s six are second-most alongside Brad Hogg and Michael Beer.

No 400 for Lynn yet again:

387 – Chris Lynn finishes the BBL 2019-20 with 387 runs from 14 innings; the most by him in a BBL edition surpassing the 385 runs he scored in the 2018-19 edition. Lynn’s 387 runs are also the 2nd best in a BBL edition for the Brisbane Heat behind Luke Pomersbach who aggregated 397 runs in ten matches during the 2012-13 season. Brisbane Heat is the only team without any player scoring 400+ runs in a BBL season for them.
