BBL 2020-21: Jason Roy signs up with Perth Scorchers for the tournament
Perth Scorchers squad looks 'balanced' as power-hitters and lethal pacers can steal the show.
Australia’s cricketing carnival Big Bash League 10 is slated to hit the floors from the first week of December. Without a shade of doubt, the action-packed tournament will script another season of heart-pounding drama for the eternal fans. Prior to the start, every team is levelling up to bolster their sides with heavyweights. In a bid that their mere presence can send shivers in the opponent’s spines.
In the latest spur of developments, the three-time champions Perth Scorchers have roped in Jason ray for the upcoming season. The England-swashbuckler carries truckloads of experience on his shoulders.
Having played over 200 T20 matches, the match-winner has bludgeoned the tearaway pace attacks with his humongous out-of-the-park sixes. Roy carved three half-centuries from five innings in last month’s T20 Blast. It includes a 46-ball 66 in the final of Nottinghamshire. Hence, the Surrey batsman is known for his art of putting pressure on opposition from the word go.
I’m excited to be joining the club: Jason Roy
“Jason is a world-class performer who will bring added power and experience to our top order. He is a great competitor and we look forward to welcoming Jason to the Scorchers,” said the exuberant Perth Scorchers coach Adam Voges as quoted by Cricbuzz.
The Englishman appears to be excited to play for the power-packed team. “The Scorchers squad looks very strong, I’m excited to be joining the club,” Roy said in a statement.
Moreover, Scorchers also confirmed that the likes of Joel Paris and Cameron Gannon have also inked a deal for the 2020-21 season. While the former returns for his sixth season with the club, the latter has previously played for Brisbane Heat, Melbourne Renegades and Melbourne Stars.
Stepping into the cricketing field as one of the favourites, Perth Scorchers looks like a formidable contender to lift the coveted silverware for the fourth time. The squad looks ‘balanced’ as power-hitters and lethal pacers can steal the show.
