Perth Scorchers conquered the MCG as they got the better of Melbourne Stars by 11 runs during the Saturday’s afternoon game. Jason Roy’s 32-ball 54 at the top and Colin Munro’s unbeaten 46 from 30 balls played a key role in getting the Scorchers to 182/4 after losing the toss. In reply, the Stars suffered early setbacks as they lost the likes of Stoinis and Maxwell by 8th over. However, Nick Larkin alone kept the Stars alive in the chase with 44-ball 70 but the hosts ended up 12 runs short of the target.

9 – Perth Scorchers now have defeated Melbourne Stars on nine occasions in the BBL; the most number of wins for any team against the Stars in the league. The Saturday’s win was also the first against the Scorchers for the Stars since the 2018-19 season.

3/12 – Melbourne Stars have lost for only the 3rd time in their previous 12 matches in the BBL at the Melbourne cricket ground; all the three while chasing a target. As a captain of the Stars, Maxwell now has lost only three of the 13 matches at the MCG.
Tye’s bowling record against Stars:
21 – Andrew Tye has claimed 21 wickets in the BBL matches while playing against the Melbourne Stars; the joint-most number of wickets by any bowlers against the Stars in the BBL alongside Ben Laughlin (21).
Record duck for Maxwell:
5 – Glenn Maxwell now has been dismissed for a duck on five occasions in the BBL; all while representing the Melbourne Stars. Maxwell’s five ducks are now the joint-most in the BBL for Melbourne Stars by any player alongside Rob Quiney.
3 – Three of Maxwell’s five ducks in BBL career came during the 2020-21 season only. He is now one of the six players to bag three or more ducks in a single edition of the BBL and the first to do so while representing the Melbourne Stars.
Turner tops in catching:
32 – Ashton Turner now has claimed 32 catches in the BBL for the Perth Scorchers including the two catches during the STA vs SCO game. These are now the most number of catches as a fielder in BBL for the Scorchers going past Ashton Agar’s tally of 30 catches.
A tight spell from Behrendorff:
2 – The maiden over by Jason Behrendorff in the STA vs SCO game was the 2nd instance of him bowling a maiden in the Big Bash League. Mitchell Johnson (4) and Jhye Richardson (3) are only other bowlers to bowl multiple maidens for the Perth Scorchers in the BBL.
Maxwell’s milestone match:
300 – The STA vs SCO game was the 300th appearance of Glenn Maxwell in his Twenty20 career. Maxwell is now only the 4th Australian to feature in 300 T20 matches after Shane Watson (343), Daniel Christian (338) and Aaron Finch (313).
