BBL 2020-21: Match 56, STA vs SIX – Sixers' winning spree, Glenn Maxwell's record against Sixers and more stats

Melbourne Stars crashed out of the BBL 2020-21 following a defeat in the hands of Sydney Sixers in the last league game of the tournament. Skipper Glenn Maxwell led the charge with a 41-ball 66 while Hilton Cartwright’s 38* off 19 balls lifted the Stars to 177/6. James Vince scored a 32-ball 46 to clinch the Bash Boost for the Sixers by which the Stars got eliminated. Later, the hopes of a consolation win for the Stars got washed away as Jordon Silk (35* off 25) and Daniel Christian (49* off 23) sealed a 5-wicket win with an unbeaten 77-run stand.

572 – Runs scored by Glenn Maxwell in the BBL while playing against Sydney Sixers in the BBL; the most runs by any player against an opponent in the Big Bash League. Maxwell went past Chris Lynn’s tally of 566 runs against the Sydney Thunder with his 66-run knock during STA vs SIX game.

19 – Adam Zampa’s 19 scalps in the BBL 2020-21 are the 2nd most by any player for Melbourne Stars in an edition of BBL behind the 20 wickets by Zampa himself and Haris Rauf during the previous edition of the competition. Zampa took only two wickets in his last four matches and fell two wickets short of setting a record.

947 – Runs Glenn Maxwell scored in the Twenty20 format at the Melbourne cricket ground; the most by any player surpassing David Hussey’s 885 runs. His fifty on Tuesday was his 7th T20 half-century at the venue; the joint-most for any player alongside Brad Hodge and Cameron White.

A season to remember for Dwarshuis:

2 – The maiden bowled by Ben Dwarshuis during the STA vs SIX game was the second of his BBL career. Brett Lee (2) and Sachitra Senanayake (2) are the other two players to bowl multiple maiden overs for the Sydney Sixers in the BBL. During the league phase, Ben Dwarshuis claimed 19 wickets which are now the most by him in a BBL edition.
