BBL 2020-21: Peter Siddle warns James Faulkner for leaving his crease before bowling; Batsman dares to run him out
Both the players had a friendly smile on their face when the incident took place.
Ever since India off-spinner Ravi Ashwin ran out Jos Buttler for leaving the crease early during the 2019 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), the controversial dismissal has been in the news. Rather several bowlers have now become aware of the batsmen taking an advantage while running and there have been a number of incidents when they have warned the opposition batters.
One such incident took place during the match 5 of the ongoing Big Bash League (BBL) in Australia during the match between Adelaide Strikers and Hobart Hurricanes. Veteran cricketers Peter Siddle and James Faulkner were involved in a hilarious banter when the former, playing for the Strikers, stopped mid-way through his run-up to warn the batsman.
The incident took place during the last over of the Hurricanes’ innings when Siddle ran in to bowl at Tim David with Faulkner at the other end. However, he pulled out of his run-up just before releasing the ball as Faulkner had left his crease in order to steal a run. This is when the bowler warned the batsman but Faulkner was unmoved and instead had a look at Siddle daring him to run him out. It was all in jest though as both the players had a smile over the incident with action resuming soon.

D’Arcy Short propels Hurricanes to 174
Meanwhile, the Hobart Hurricanes managed to post a challenging total of 174 runs after being invited to bat first. Their opener D’Arcy Short struck form scoring 72 off just 48 balls with six fours and four sixes. His opening partner Will Jacks also batted well scoring 34 off 25 balls while Colin Ingram, Tim David and James Faulkner also chipped with decent runs.
For the Strikers, Wes Agar was the best bowler returning with the figures of 2/28 in his four overs while Peter Siddle, Daniel Worrall and Rashid Khan picked a wicket each. Despite Short’s heroics, the hilarious incident between Siddle and Faulkner was the talking point of the innings.
