In what comes as a major boost for Sydney Thunder, the franchise have now signed the Pakistani quick Muhammad Hasnain for the 11th season of BBL. The Sydney-based team already have several quality pacers, such as Daniel Sams, Saqib Mahmood, Chris Tremain, Nathan McAndrew, Gurinder Sandhu, and Brendan Doggett. With the addition of the 21-year-old, their side now looks like a force to reckon with.

After making his international debut in 2019, the pacer instantly managed to impress one and all. As he has already represented the Quetta Gladiators in the PSL, as well as the Trinbago Knight Riders in the CPL, this isn’t going to be the first time Hasnain plays a high-profile T20 league. Speaking about his performances in the shortest format of the game so far, the speedster has scalped 85 T20 wickets in 70 games as of now.

While his bowling average in T20s is 26.05, he has a strike rate of 18.2. Besides, he has already clocked 151 km/h and thus, has the ability to generate the extra pace. Moreover, he has already taken a T20I hat-trick.

Muhammad Hasnain is going to love bowling in Australia: Ben Cutting

Ben Cutting, who has played for Quetta Gladiators alongside Hasnain, had heaps of praises for him. The all-rounder praised his ability to bowl fast and appreciated his skills.

“He bowls fast; easily at 150 km/h. He’s a lovely young kid, and his team back home is keen for him to learn about the game and to also come out here and bowl fast,” said Ben Cutting in a statement put up by Sydney Thunder. He also spoke about how the conditions in Australia would suit the youngster’s bowling.

“Muhammad is going to love bowling in Australia. We have faster pitches and bigger boundaries – conditions that are far more conducive to bowling fast than they are in Pakistan,” he said. “I have no doubt he’s going to enjoy the experience, and I know he’ll be a tremendous addition to Sydney Thunder’s squad.” added the 34-year-old.

Even Michael Klinger, who happens to be the CNSW Head of Male Cricket, spoke about his arrival in BBL, and praised him. “He’s a fast bowler who bowls with extreme pace and has fantastic T20 skills and variations,” said Klinger. “At such a young age he’s already taken a T20I hattrick for Pakistan, and he’s performed well for Quetta in the Pakistan Super League,” he added.
