BBL 6 witnessed a run fest at the Docklands Stadium in Melbourne, Hobart Hurricanes chased down 223-run target set by Melbourne Renegades by 2 wickets reaching the target on the very last ball. Renegades set the record for the highest total in BBL with 222/5, which didn’t last even 2 hours as Hurricanes broke it in the chase.

Ben McDermott was the star in the chase with a brilliant 114, the son of the Australian legendary pacer. With this century, Ben became the first player from his family to score a century in any format (FC or List A or T20). Here we look at all the stats and records set during the thrilling game.

3 – Number of times a team batting 2nd scored 200+ in BBL. Hobart Hurricanes was the team on all the 3 occasions.

4 – Number of times Aaron Finch has scored more than 250 runs in an edition of Big Bash League. No other player has scored more than 250 runs in a BBL edition in more than two seasons.

9 – Number of sixes Ben McDermott hit in the innings, the joint 2nd most in by a batsman in BBL. Chris Gayle, Craig Simmons, and Chris Lynn hit 11 sixes each.

22 – Sixes hit in this game, the 2nd most in a BBL game. Highest is 24 sixes in the match between Sydney Thunder and Brisbane Heat in 2014/15 season.

22y 31d – Age at which Ben McDermott scored a BBL century in this game; he is the 2nd youngest player to do so. Travis Head was the youngest at the age of 22 years and 2 days.

47 – McDermott took 47 balls for his century. This is now the 3rd fastest century in BBL. Only Craig Simmons (39 balls) and Luke Wright (44 balls) scored a century in BBL in fewer balls.

50 – Number of games Brad Hogg has played in BBL. He became the first player to play 50 BBL games.

59 – Runs conceded by Thisara Perera in this game, the 2nd most by any player in a BBL game. Daniel Worrall conceded 60 runs in 2014/15 against Hobart for Melbourne Stars.

114 – Ben McDermott’s 114 is now the 2nd highest individual score in Big Bash League’s history. Luke Wright scored 117 for Melbourne Stars against Hobart Hurricanes in 2012/13.

210 – Previous highest team total in BBL is 210/3 by Melbourne Renegades and 210/7 by Hobart Hurricanes both were scored against in Brisbane Heat in 2013/14. Same teams went past the totals in this game.

223 – Hobart Hurricanes’ chase of 223 is now the joint 4th highest successful run-chase in Twenty20 cricket and the highest in BBL. Previous highest successful chase in BBL was 210 also by Hobart in 2013/14 vs Brisbane.

251 – Wickets taken by Sunil Narine in Twenty20 cricket. He became the 10th player to take 250 wickets in this format.

445 – Total runs scored in this game, the highest aggregate in a Twenty20 game in Australia. Previous highest was 419 in a BBL game between Brisbane Heat and Hobart Hurricanes in 2013/14.
