Adelaide Strikers clinched their maiden Big Bash League title in their first-ever appearance in a BBL final that came in the 7th season. The Strikers made their first final a special outing by registering their maiden 200+ total in the league’s history thanks to a match-winning 115-run knock from Jake Weatherald. The Hobart Hurricanes failed to catch up with the required rate despite not losing many wickets as they ended up with only 177/5 in reply to Strikers’ 202/2.

All the stats and numbers that were recorded during the Big Bash League 2017/18 final:

1Jake Weatherald became the first player to score a century in a Big Bash League final. Mitchell Marsh in 2011/12 and Moises Henriques in 2014/15 scored 77 each in the BBL finals.

5 – The century by Jake Weatherald in this game is only the 5th in Twenty20 history in a tournament final. His innings of 115 is only bettered by Chris Gayle with his 146* in the 2017 BPL final. Weatherald became the 2nd Australian to score a hundred in a T20 final after Brad Hodge who scored 106 in the 2006 KFC T20 tournament final for Victoria.

8 – Number of sixes Jake Weatherald hit in this game. These are the joint 2nd most sixes hit by any player in a Twenty20 tournament final. Chris Gayle hit as many as 18 sixes in the last year’s BPL final.

33 – Number of wins for Adelaide Strikers in the BBL. These are the joint 2nd most wins for a team in BBL after Perth Scorchers’ 45 wins. Hobart Hurricanes now have lost 33 matches in the league which are the joint 2nd most behind Sydney Thunders’ 40 losses.

115 – Weatherald’s innings of 115 is the 3rd highest individual score in the BBL behind D’Arcy Short’s 122* and Luke Wright’s 117. This is also the highest score by an Adelaide Strikers’ player surpassing Travis Head’s 101* against Sydney Sixers in 2015/16. Alex Carey’s 100 against Hobart earlier this season was the other BBL ton recorded by an Adelaide Strikers’ player.

177/5 – The Hobart Hurricanes’ total of 177 is their lowest in the six instances of chasing 200+ target. They successfully chased down the target in the last three occasions of chasing 200+ and lost the first two occasions of conceding 200+ runs by 19 and three runs respectively in the other two matches.

202/2 – Adelaide Strikers’ 202/2 is their maiden 200+ total in the BBL. Their previous highest total was 198/6 against Perth Scorchers in the 2013/14 season.

202/2 – Adelaide Strikers’ total of 202/2 is the highest by any team in a BBL final. This is also the 3rd highest total in a T20 final in Australia behind New South Wales’ 233/7 and Victoria’s 203/8 in 2006 and 2008 KFC Domestic T20 respectively.
