The latest season of the Big Bash League (BBL 2025) has kicked off in a brilliant fashion. Over the years, the BBL has been Australia’s premier franchise league tournament, with eight teams battling it out for the title glory. Notably, the previous edition of the BBL was won by Brisbane Heat.
The side took on Sydney Sixers in the summit clash of the tournament, and registered a dominating win over their opponent. They defeated Sixers in the final by 54 runs, to clinch the coveted title in what was a historic season for Brisbane.
Meanwhile, over the years, there have been several winners in the BBL. Brisbane Heat have won the tournament twice, with Perth Scorchers being the most successful side in the competition. Scorchers have claimed the title for a record five times. Furthermore, Sydney Sixers have won the title on three occassions. Besides, they were also the champions of the inaugural edition of the BBL as well.
In the ongoing BBL 2024-25 season, half of the teams have played their first games of the tournament already. Currently, after having played one game at least so far, Perth Scorchers and Sydney Sixers managed to taste victory in their tournament opener, while city counterparts, Melbourne Renegades and Melbourne Stars ended up on the losing side in their respective first games.
Fans have already been gripped with the Australian T20 cricket fever, as they wait to see any twist in the tale in the ongoing BBL 2024-25 edition in a hope to see a new champion emerging to relish the unpredictability of the T20 extravaganza.
