In the recently-concluded BBL 2024-25 season, it was the Hobart Hurricanes that emerged triumphant in the fourteenth edition of the tournament. The Hobart-based side was up against the Sydney Thunders in the ultimate clash of the league, and was able to chase down the target set by David Warner's men with almost six overs to spare.
For the Hurricanes, Mitchell Owen proved to be the star performer with the bat, and hit a mind-boggling 11 sixes in the final to give the Thunder no chance whatsoever from stopping the Hurricanes from lifting their maiden BBL title, as Warner & Co. were denied what could have been their second title in the Big Bash history.
Thunder and Sydney Sixers were the second and third-placed teams, respectively, whereas, Melbourne Stars came fourth after losing the Knockout game against the Thunder.
Meanwhile, over the years, there have been several winners in the BBL. Brisbane Heat have won the tournament twice, with Perth Scorchers being the most successful side in the competition. Scorchers have claimed the title for a record five times. Furthermore, Sydney Sixers have won the title on three occasions. Besides, they were also the champions of the inaugural edition of the BBL as well.
