Bangladesh suffered a torrid time in the recently-concluded T20I series against Pakistan and suffered a 0-3 defeat at home. Having thrashed giants like Australia and New Zealand, the Mahmudullah-led side was expected to put the Men in Green under pressure. However, nothing as such happened as the Bangla Tigers couldn’t even record a consolation win. Meanwhile, the third and last T20I was a cliffhanger that went right down to the wire.

Chasing 125 at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka, Pakistan’s chase was smooth for the best part. However, Mahmudullah took three wickets in one over to change the course of the game. While the encounter went right down to the wire, the Babar Azam-led side eventually crossed the line in the final ball, winning the contest by five wickets.

Shahidul Islam dismissed Mohammad Rizwan on debut

Meanwhile, right-arm pacer Shahidul Islam made his debut in the game and bowled a pretty impressive spell. The fast bowler conceded 35 runs in 3.5 overs while taking an important wicket of Mohammad Rizwan. With Shahidul taking his maiden international wicket, many lauded him on social media. Needless to mention, the official Twitter page of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) also made an update about the pacer’s achievement.

However, the post went viral on social media for wrong reasons. The post did show Shahidul’s smiling face but the body allegedly was of veteran Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, who was not a part of this series. Apparently, the picture was photoshopped and the netizens were quick to highlight the same. BCB eventually deleted the post after they realize their gaffe.

Here’s the deleted post

Meanwhile, Bangladesh captain Mahmudullah wasn’t really amused by the way this game panned out. However, he didn’t miss out on appreciating his pacer Taskin Ahmed, who came out bowl after suffering an injury. “Batters from both teams struggled a bit. Need to spend some time at the crease to capitalize. I really appreciate the way Taskin came back after having the injury on his bowling hand. Great character shown,” said the all-rounder after the game.

On the other hand, Pakistan skipper Babar Azam seemed pretty pleased. “The way every individual has performed, credit to the group. There is always scope for improvement. Our fielding has improved a lot. Middle order has also taken responsibility to win matches. Want to take this confidence into the Tests. Thanks to the fans, we enjoyed these three matches,” said the 27-year-old.

Meanwhile, let’s look at how Twitterati reacted to BCB’s post for Shahidul Islam:
