The Indian cricket team is in West Indies for the 4-match Test series. The players are enjoying themselves travelling to islands, spending time on the beach, chilling, playing volleyball and of course sweating it out in the net. The Caribbean is known to be the best party destination rather is promoted as a place where the party never stops. The young Indian cricketers most of whom are on the first tour to the country are exploring a lot of things but despite all the luxuries and amenities that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has helped them with, they want the players to act in a more responsible manner since they are looked up to as role models.
A couple of days after some of the players posted a picture on social media platforms holding a pint of beer in their hand during a day’s outing at St. Nevis beach. The BCCI has sent an advisory to the team through team manager Riyaz Bagwan. The team is currently playing the second warm-up game against WICB President’s XI and they went for the outing between the two warm-up games.
The Hindu quoted a BCCI insider saying, “Some of the BCCI officials aren’t happy with players posting such images on social media. There has been no written communication, but the manager has been asked to send a message to the players to ensure that nothing that could set a bad example should be posted online,”
It was a picture of Lokesh Rahul who has had a good season thus far and is expected to find a place for himself in the Indian team during the 4 Tests. Rahul was holding a pint of beer in his hand, and posed for a picture with Karnataka teammate Stuart Binny, pacer Umesh Yadav and one of the support staff members. Since this didn’t go down well with the BCCI, Rahul also deleted the picture from his account.

Though a picture holding a pint of beer isn’t a huge deal in today’s world but the Indian board wants the players to behave with high morals since they are idols for the upcoming generation in the nation. “Many kids blindly follow the star cricketers’ actions on and off the field, so our boys have got to always keep that in mind. They should always consider the sense and sensitivities of Indian cricket fans,” said another BCCI official, preferring anonymity.
