BCCI announce the itinerary of Australia Women’s tour to India
The tour comprises of three ODIs after which T20I tri-series will be played involving England Women as well.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the schedule of Australia Women’s tour to India in March 2018. The team from down under will face the resurgent Indian team in a three-match ODI series which will be followed by the T20I tri-series also involving England Women. However, this series will be crucial for India Women as it will be the first international series at home after their sensational performance in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup earlier this year.
India had knocked Australia out of World Cup on the back of a fantastic knock of 175* from Harmanpreet Kaur in the semi-finals. Aussies would be determined to give it back on the tour as they will also play two warm-up games against India A in Mumbai preceding to the ODI series. The three-match ODI series will commence on March 12 and all the games will be played in Baroda. The clash is expected to be one to watch out for and the fans would love to watch the cracker of a contest live in the Stadium.
T20I tri-series details
After the conclusion of ODI series on March 18, England Women will join the party as the teams will lock horns in the tri-series of the shortest format of the game. The matches of the tournament will be played at Brabourne Stadium (CCI) in Mumbai starting on March 22 with the game between India and Australia. Every team will play the other twice during the series before the top teams compete in the final for the ultimate glory on April 3.
The superstars of India Mithali Raj, Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana among others would be in action in front of their home crowd. Prior to that, the Indian Women will travel South Africa for the limited overs tour where Men’s team would already be competing. The Men’s T20 game will be preceded by Women’s game as the spectators will enjoy the doubleheader on every match day. The cricketing season for the Indian Women has begun and expect more fan following in the near future now.
