India are scheduled to play Windies in October and November for a two-match Test, five-match ODI, and a three-match T20I series. The first Test starts on October 4 at Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot. Hyderabad is the other venue for the red-ball fixtures. The ODI series gets underway on October 21 at Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati.
Kolkata, Lucknow, and Chennai are the three venues for the T-20 fixtures to be played from November 4 to 11. In the meantime, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the 13-man Board President’s eleven squad for the warm-up match against the Windies. Karnataka right-handed batsman Karun Nair has been appointed as the captain of the team.
A strong squad altogether
He has been with the Indian Test team ever since the historic Test match against Afghanistan at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. Prithvi Shaw and Hanuma Vihari, both of who got their maiden international call-up in England, has also been included. Mayank Agarwal has been in stupendous form from the previous season but hasn’t yet been able to stake his claim in the national team.
He would want to score big and somehow break into the Indian squad. Shreyas Iyer has mostly has captained the India ‘A’ team in their successful campaigns in England and at home and he also found his way in the team. The bowling department has Basil Thampi and Avesh Khan, who has been performing well in the domestic circuit and also did well in the cash-rich Indian Premier League.
Fast-bowler Ishan Porel, who played in the U19 World Cup in New Zealand earlier this year, got his opportunity as well. Ishan Kishan is the wicketkeeper-batsman in the lineup. K Vignesh, Jalaj Saxena, and Saurabh Kumar are the other players in the team.
Here is the squad
Mayank Agarwal, Prithvi Shaw, Hanuma Vihari, Karun Nair (captain), Shreyas Iyer, Ankit Bawne, Ishan Kishan (wicket-keeper), Jalaj Saxena, Saurabh Kumar, Basil Thampi, Avesh Khan, K Vignesh, Ishan Porel
