BCCI announces prize money for domestic tournaments

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the prize money on offer in India’s domestic competitions. BCCI does not depend on the government for its finances and is India’s richest sporting body. As India is a large market in terms of international cricket revenue, the BCCI’s opinions carry weight within the ICC’s decision-making process. The ECB, Cricket Australia and the BCCI are regarded as cricket’s ‘Big Three’ economic players.

The BCCI Corporate Rajsingh Dungarpur Trophy gives the winner rupees 1 crore while the runner-up takes home 50 lakhs. The winner of Irani Cup pockets 10 lakhs while there isn’t any prize money for the runner-up team. The N K P Salve (Challenger) tourney gives the winning team 15 lakhs while the 2nd best team earns 10 lakhs.

The Duleep Trophy gives the winner and the 2nd best team amounts of 30 and 15 lakhs respectively. India’s premier and the most important domestic competition, The Ranji Trophy gives the winning team a whopping amount of 2 crores while the runner-up team takes home 1 crore. The two losing semifinalists are also awarded 50 lakhs each.

Following is the prize money on offer for other domestic competitions:

Vijay Hazare Trophy: Winner 20 Lakhs; Runner-up 10 Lakhs; Group toppers 5 Lakhs each.

Prof D B Deodhar Trophy: Winner 15 Lakhs; Runner-up Lakhs 9 Lakhs.

Col C K Nayudu Trophy: Winner 10 Lakhs; Losing Semifinalists 2 Lakhs each; Runner-up 5 Lakhs.

Cooch Behar Trophy: Winner 6 Lakhs; Losing Semifinalists 1 Lakh each; Runner-up 2 Lakhs.

Vinoo Mankad Trophy: Winner 4 Lakhs; Losing Semifinalists 1 Lakh each; Runner-up 2 Lakhs.

Under-19 InterZonal after Vinoo Mankad Trophy:  Winner 4 Lakhs; Runner-up 2 Lakhs.

Vijay Merchant Trophy: Winner 4 Lakhs; Losing Semifinalists 1 Lakh each; Runner-up 2 Lakhs.

Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy- Twenty 20: Winner 10 Lakhs; Runner-up 5 Lakhs.

Senior Women’s Interstate One Day:  Winner 3 Lakhs; Losing Semifinalists 0.75 Lakh each; Runner-up 1.5 Lakhs.

Junior Women’s Interstate One Day: Winner 2 Lakhs; Losing Semifinalists 0.5 Lakh each; Runner-up 1 Lakh.

Senior Women’s (InterZonal) One day: Winner 2 Lakh; Runner-up 1 Lakh.

Senior Women’s T20 InterState: Winner 2 Lakh; Losing Semifinalist 0.5 Lakhs each; Runner-up 1 Lakh.
