The BCCI Apex Council will be looking at the probe committee’s report that states wicketkeeper-batter Wriddhiman Saha’s accusations against journalist Boria Majumdar. The meeting will be held on April 23, where the complaint will be reviewed. Hosting fee and participation fee for multi-day tournaments and resolution for updating of bank signatories are among other topics on the list that will be discussed during the meeting.
The venues for the knock-out stages of the Ranji Trophy is also expected to be finalised, which is scheduled after the completion of the Indian Premier League 2022, starting May 30th. Coming back to Saha’s matter, after he had accused Majumdar of intimidating him, the BCCI had formed a three-member panel to probe into the matter.
The panel comprises vice-president Rajeev Shukla, treasurer Arun Dhumal, and Apex council member Prabhtej Bhatia. “Review of the Committee report on issue concerning Mr Wriddhiman Saha,” read item no.4 on the meeting agenda according to News18.
Saha had accused Boria Majumdar of threatening him
Saha allegedly said that Majumdar had intimidated him after he refused to give an interview to him. The two of them presented their particular forms of the story before the committee last month. After more than a month, the BCCI Apex Council is expected to close the matter in their upcoming meeting.
Majumdar had alleged that the Bengal wicketkeeper had tampered with the WhatsApp messages before sharing the screenshot on social media for the world to know. This statement had created a spark and added to the controversy. Saha had shared the matter via a series of tweets on February 23, 2022.
Wriddhiman Saha, since his Test debut, has played only 40 Test matches as he has been with the Indian side as a reserve wicketkeeper with India’s focus being on Rishabh Pant. In South Africa, he was informed by head coach Rahul Dravid that he was no longer a part of the team’s plans, and the player himself divulged this confidential information.
