BCCI bans WAGs from travelling along the team during the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015: Indian cricket is experiencing lot of changes, in and around the field as its governing body the Board of Cricket Control In India (BCCI) is under the watchful eyes of the Supreme Court of India for everything that is run inside and by it. Plus the Indian media critically picks every single move made by the players and the board when the team is not doing well and it back fires. This time to stay away from any such controversy the BCCI has banned WAGs from travelling along the team during the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015.

It all started with India’s tour of England, the team fared poorly there and was one rare tour where Virat Kohli failed to fire in the tests as well as the ODIs and then we saw images of both Virat and Anushka spending some time out on the streets of London do rounds in every media house. What it did was raise a question over whether WAGs should be allowed to stay along with the players or not?

The BCCI wants to take no risk this time; the team does not look as good as it did 4 years back and not many think that India will be able to defend the title. So to avoid anything that could cause the team more concern we see this call coming out from the BCCI.

While the effect or side-effect will appear only as we move deeper into the world cup but these are professional cricketers who play non-stop cricket for around 8 or 10 months in a year and if you still keep them away from their families WAGs you are doing no good.

There are only two guys who have this luxury of having their better halves together one of course is Stuart Binny as Mayanti Langer is a part of the Broadcaster’s team and is travelling around covering the world cup and Shikhar Dhawan’s wife who is based in Melbourne itself.

At the moment I feel, the team was on a low after they played some really tough, mentally exhausting cricket in Australia for the last 2 or 3 months, giving them time out from the cricketing circles to relax a bit with their loved ones together would have done wonders than to have those 15 or 17 guys looking at each other and flashing back into what has happened.

Till the time we see some concrete results coming out from the world cup, it is not a fair call by the board which needs to think more sensitively and decide with the players taken into confidence.
