BCCI CEO Rahul Johri had a conversation with Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul
He will submit his report to the CoA now.
Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul are currently suspended for their disrespectful comments on the talk show Koffee with Karan. The investigation on the matter has been messed up with the two Committee of Administrators (COA) members not being on the same page. Meanwhile, the BCCI CEO Rahul Johri has spoken to both the cricketers on the telephone after they tendered unconditional apologies for what they did during the show.
CoA chief Vinod Rai and Diana Edulji are at the loggerheads over the issue at the moment with the emails being shot with strong words between them. While the former has cleared that the board doesn’t want to play with the cricketers’ careers, Edulji believes that the strongest action should be taken on them and also hinted previously that their World Cup ambitions are in danger.
Johri expected to submit his reply
Meanwhile, Rahul Johri’s role in this matter is seen only as the inquiry initiator as he is not allowed to ask any question to the suspended cricketers. He spoke to the duo on the telephone and is expected to submit his report to the CoA on Wednesday.
“The CEO spoke to them via telephone. However, his brief was simple as the inquiry initiator. He has to just collate whatever they have written in their show cause reply. He is expected to submit his report to CoA by tomorrow,” the BCCI official close to the development was quoted as saying by the Times of India. The investigation will now start only after the Supreme Court an Ombudsman to dig further in the case.
“Any investigative question is the purview of the ombudsman. Now the next phase will only happen if the SC appoints an ombudsman or an ad-hoc ombudsman is appointed,” the official further added. The Supreme Court is now expected to give its verdict (appointing ombudsman) on January 17 and then the investigation will start.
