In case you don’t know, Yuvi was forced out of the first warm-up encounter against New Zealand because of viral fever that he picked up a few days before the match. He had also injured his finger towards the end of the Indian Premier League but recovered quickly and took part in the eliminator which the Sunrisers Hyderabad eventually lost.
Yuvraj earned a Champions Trophy berth for his sensational 150 against England
Apart from a few decent performances, Yuvraj did not have a great IPL with the bat. However, he impressed with his performances before the IPL as he played the best innings of his life against England in the second ODI of the 5-match series held at Cuttack, scoring a match-winning 150. With that innings, he announced his international comeback in a royal style.
A few questioned the selectors for naming Yuvraj in the Champions Trophy squad after a not so great IPL. But it seems that the selectors wanted to play it safe and include the experienced players for the challenging tournament and did not risk it with the youngsters. Yuvraj will look to get going when India play their second warm-up against Bangladesh, before starting their campaign against arch-rivals Pakistan on June 4.
