Ashish Nehra is all set to play his farewell match at Ferozshah Kotla Stadium in Delhi on Wednesday against New Zealand. Last month, he announced his retirement from all forms of cricket including the lucrative Indian Premier League (IPL). He has contributed immensely to the Indian cricket in last 18 years but has also fought with injuries for many years. BCCI, in a brilliant gesture, has reared a thank you video for the veteran paceman in which his teammates have wished him good luck for the future.

The left-arm fast bowler made his debut for the Men in Blue in 1999 and has since played for the country for 18 long years. However, his career was plagued with injuries which kept him away from cricket for a while. But he made a stellar comeback in international cricket albeit in the shortest format of the game. He has played 26 T20 Internationals for India and has picked 34 wickets at an amazing average of 21.44. His economy of 7.75 is also decent given the flat decks in India. Though he will look to bid adieu with one final performance on the field and try to win a game for his country.

Teammates pay tribute to Nehra Ji

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has prepared a video specially dedicated to the 38-year-old which includes some of the snaps of his heroic spell against England in 2003 World Cup. Most of his teammates have also paid him a tribute in it which gives the emotional touch to it. The official Twitter handle of BCCI has shared the link of the video and have made it trending with the tag #ThankYouAshishNehra.

Rohit Sharma relived his best spell of 6/23 against England and termed it as the fondest memory of Nehra for him. Dinesh Karthik also recalled that Nehra was the first bowler who bowled when he was behind the stumps. While Shikhar Dhawan hailed his sense of humour, Bhuvneshwar Kumar praised the work ethics of the left-hander even at the age of 38. Even others have mentioned their views on him which should overwhelm Ashish Nehra on the final day of his illustrious career.
