Earlier in March, BCCI released its home series itinerary, which implied that India will host two Test matches against the West Indies later this year. There were also talks of making either of the Tests a day-night affair but the discussions were in preliminary stages.

BCCI Acting Secretary Amitabh Chaudhary had initially suggested the idea but the Committee of Administrators (COA) led by former CAG Vinod Rai said no to Chaudhury’s proposal of holding a D/N test, saying the India team management should be consulted first. However, in a recent development, Chaudhury confirmed that he had consulted the required management and it looks likely that either fixture could be played under the floodlights.

Hyderabad and Rajkot are the two venues which are slated to host the two Tests against West Indies, although the dates for it have not been released as of now by the BCCI.

According to India Today, Chaudhary told reporters on the sidelines of the five-day International Cricket Council (ICC) meet in Kolkata, “I had consulted the Indian team management, the selectors, the office bearers and all were in agreement that one of the two Tests against West Indies will be a day-night Test.”

India’s home campaign for 2018

According to India’s home series itinerary finalised by the BCCI, the Men in Blue will host two Test matches against the Windies while Delhi will conduct a One-Day International against Australia.

The Indian team are scheduled to play only three Test matches at home. They start if the campaign with a historic first against Afghanistan in June along with two more against Windies in October after Diwali.

Prior to that, India will also host the Islanders for five ODIs in Mumbai, Guwahati, Kochi, Indore and Pune in early November.

The series will culminate with three Twenty20 Internationals at Kolkata, Chennai and Kanpur. The Kolkata T20 will be held on 4 November but dates for other matches are yet to be known.
