The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has released a statement stating the increase of the allowances for the India Women’s and the U19 boy’s team will have an allowance of USD 100 a day for home matches and up to USD 125 a day for overseas matches. While it is clear that the BCCI do go on to add value to these players who have been contracted centrally, there is now a clear pay parity between the boys, men, and the women’s teams.

The daily allowance will be available to the players who are serving a contract with the BCCI. The working committee of the BCCI also went on to approve the audit system that was in place for the same. The decision, which by no means was an executive one, has been welcomed by one and all and also conforms to the 2016-17 budget set aside for player payments for the year.

In a statement released by the BCCI, the daily allowances for the players were increased so that the players playing in the junior levels of the game would be at par with the astronomical sums of money made by the Indian men.

“The daily allowance for the India Under-19 boys team and senior India women team was increased and fixed at par with the senior India men team. All of them will get 125 USD per day on international tours and equivalent of 100 USD in the home series,” the BCCI said in a statement.

Whether these changes are part of the current Lodha scheme remains to be seen. “The audited statement of accounts for the year ending March 31, 2016, was approved. the budget for the financial year 2016-17 was approved.”
