Moreover, there are voices that the upcoming T20 World Cup that is scheduled to take place in Australia might be cancelled. Even there were doubts raised over Team India’s tour of Australia that will take place in the latter part of the year but that is not the case as far as CA is concerned.
BCCI official opens up on bilateral series against Australia
Cricket Australia is going with a positive approach and is thinking about hosting Team India for the five-match Test series in a single city to cut down the possibility of spreading COVID-19. He had recited the fact that CA and BCCI share a strong bond and both the associations are committed to staging the five-Test series in the future.
A BCCI official said that the board has not given a thought over the fact of playing five-match Test series against Australia. He also added the fact that the T20 World Cup is on its way and Australia is currently in lockdown until September with no new foreigner allowed in the country. As per him, the board wants to see how things go in the future. And, after that only they can come out with a decision related to bilateral series against Australia.
“We haven’t given it a thought as yet. We have a World Cup and Australia is in lockdown (the country has closed its borders to all foreigners for six months) until the end of September. We have to see how they go for that (T20 World Cup). Depending on that, the bilateral series will be worked out,” a BCCI official was quoted as saying by Indian Express.
