BCCI to release invitations for IPL media rights on July 21
The last date for the submission of the bids has been fixed as August 28.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is all set to release the Invitations to Tender (ITT) for the IPL media rights for the upcoming editions of the tournament. The ITT will be released on July 21 by the board. The last date for the submission of the bids has been fixed as August 28. The announcement has come straight from the BCCI offices with acting Secretary Amitabh Choudhary confirming the same.
The media rights are up for grabs after recently the board had finalized the sponsorship deals. Mobile manufacturing company Vivo had bagged the title sponsorship deals for a record amount recently for the period of next five years. On the same lines, the media rights will also be up for the taking for the next five year period.
Also, the event rights had gone to IMF for quite a big amount as well. The BCCI released a statement wherein they stated that the current procedure for inviting the tenders and finalizing the terms is very transparent and the most ideal way to take things forward.
“The IPL Governing Council at its meeting held on July 11, 2017 evaluated the IPL Media Rights ITT and reconfirmed that the existing BCCI tender process is the best approach, both in terms of absolute transparency and a free and fair price discovery, for the IPL Media Rights,” quoted Amitabh Choudhary in a statement.
No additional costs for entities who had earlier purchased tenders
The statement further added that the entities who had purchased the tender documents last year in October will get a chance to present the media rights without any additional costs this time around.
“The entities that had purchased the tender documents of the IPL Media Rights, which was earlier scheduled to be held on October 25, 2016, will be provided the tender documents of present IPL Media Rights on its release without any additional cost/charges,” the BCCI statement conceded.
