Reports state the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will still earn upwards of Rs. 2500 Crore following the massive amount of cricket that has been played in India in recent times. This also comes after the abolishment of the ‘Big Three’ model, something that has been frowned upon by most of the nations playing Test cricket. Moreover, the fact of the matter is that many also witnessed the takeover of cricket, for a brief time at the very least in terms of revenue share that would eventually be allocated to the rest of the world’s cricketing nations.
The BCCI however, has gone through their fair share of turmoil this time around. With the likes of Anurag Thakur and Ajay Shirke being embroiled in somewhat of a scandal with the Lodha Committee, the fact of the matter is that the Board would stand to profit from all the cricket that has been played.
The Big Three model, constituted by Board and cricketing supremo N Srinivasan has been frowned upon by many who were looking to grow cricket as opposed to the exclusivity model that was being viewed with much appeasement by the smaller cricketing nations. In fact, the likes of Ireland and Netherlands, and perhaps even Scotland have been the nations to speak out against this sort of revenue share given the fact that they cannot have much development when it comes to playing cricket against a big team once in two years.
The Big Three Model was abolished on February the third with only Amitabh Choudhary being the one to oppose it. Thus according to the Big Three model, India would get US$ 507 million (Rs 3,400 crores approx) as contribution cost from 2015. Also, England would get US $110 million (Rs 739 crores) and Australia US$67 million (Rs 450 crores).
