BCCI set to welcome the suspended Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals for the 2018 IPL

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have now geared up to welcome back two of the world’s favorite franchises in the form of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) on the very same day when they release the “Invitation to Tender (ITT)” for the rights.

The two franchises were suspended from the Indian Premier League by the apex court of India, the Supreme Court following the match-fixing scandal that erupted in the year 2013. The former champions were suspended from the tournament for two seasons- 2016 & 2017.

The former two-time IPL champions CSK are making a grand preparation for their return to the league and are in the middle of finalizing events for their return around their massive fan base. Indian wicket-keeper MS Dhoni, who served as the captain of the franchise in all their eight seasons at the league will return to serve as the skipper for the Yellow Army.

Meanwhile, on the other hand, the Rajasthan Royals are in talks with a leading corporate, that already showed its interest in the Tournament for a possible stake sale could return to the league with a new (co) owner.

The corporate is looking forward to the team after its success in the tournament thus far, and the corporate is engaging itself in full flow for the possible stake take over. The franchise has started cleaning a lot of concerns that surround the current ownership, with co-owner Suresh Chellaram’s share of 49% in the Royals setup.

A leading franchise from the North is in the final round of talks with a corporate that has major interests in the sports industry down south. “Talks have been going on for a while, and due-diligence is on at the moment. If everything goes through smoothly, both parties will approach the BCCI for a final ratification and go ahead with the deal,” a source in the know of things said.

The Tournament could well go into the 2018 season on a completely fresh note, after the controversies that surrounded the Supreme Court appointed Committee of Administrators, who now have the complete control over the daily administration.
