Mohammed Shami hasn’t had much to cheer in recent times owing to multiple allegations from his wife Hasin Jahan. The Indian pacer has recently been accused of involvement in match-fixing scandals, extra-marital affairs, domestic violence, and death threats. The accusations haven’t helped his career one bit as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) withheld his annual contract for the national l team.
The pacer’s participation for the Delhi Daredevils in the Indian Premier League is also uncertain courtesy to the controversy. Most recently, the Committee of Administrators (CoA), appointed by the Supreme Court, wrote to the BCCI’s Anti Corruption Unit (ACU) head in order for them to probe into the allegations hurled by Jahan against Shami.
The deadline for Shami’s fate
CK Khanna, the acting president of the BCCI, recently spoke to the media and updated on the report they forwarded to the ACU. The CoA, headed by Vinod Rai, has given a seven-day deadline to ACU head Neeraj Kumar to submit the report. “We will wait for the report of ACU on Mohammed Shami before deciding anything. We are expecting that the report will come within a week,” Khanna iterated.
The cricketer has been charged under various non-bailable and bailable sections of the IPC, including Section 498A, which deals with cruelty to a woman by her husband or his relatives, Section 307 – attempt to murder, Section 323 – punishment for voluntarily causing hurt, Section 376 – rape, Section 506 – criminal intimidation, Section 328 and Section 34.
The issue between Mohammed Shami and Hasin Jahan has turned murkier with the passage of time. While Jahan is adamant in her words for the Indian cricketer, Shami has completely denied the charges and mentioned someone to be misleading his wife surrounding the incident. Meanwhile, the Kolkata Police is turning no stone down to churn out the reality pertaining to the matter.
