BCCI to donate Rs 51 crore to PM's CARES Fund to fight Coronavirus

Mr Sourav Ganguly, President, Mr Jay Shah, Honorary Secretary and Office Bearers of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) along with the affiliated state associations on Saturday announced to donate INR 51 crores to the Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund (PM-CARES Fund) to contribute towards strengthening the nation’s disaster management capacities and encourage research to combat COVID-19 and protect Indian citizens.

The BCCI will contribute to Hon’ble Prime Minister’s initiative which is a dedicated national fund (PM-CARES Fund) with the primary objective of dealing with emergency or distress situations.
The Board along with its state associations will continue to monitor and work closely with the Government of India, state governments and other state regulatory bodies and are committed to providing support to the state machinery in the face of adversity.
Indian cricketers come forward to fight against Coronavirus
Meanwhile, apart from the BCCI, even the Indian cricketers have come forward to help the nation fight from Coronavirus. The BCCI President Sourav Ganguly himself has pledged to donate rice of worth Rs 50 lakh in support of the people affected due to 21-day lockdown in India. Irfan Pathan and Yusuf Pathan also did their bit by donating face masks.
Suresh Raina on Saturday decided to donate Rs 52 lakh to the relief fund organised by the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and the Prime Minister of India. Out of 52, 21 lakh INR will go to the Uttar Pradesh chief minister’s fund while 31 Lakhs INR will go to the Prime Minister’s fund.
Recently, even Sachin Tendulkar donated 50 lakh INR to the relief fundout of which 25 Lakh INR went to the Chief Minister of Maharastra’s funds while the remaining amount was donated to the Prime Minister’s fund.
