The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has informed the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) about releasing funds for hosting the Australian team in their coming limited-overs tour of India. The Australians, who are currently in Bangladesh for the Test series will be reaching Chennai after September 8th, where they will play a practice game and the first encounter of the 5-match ODI series.

TNCA earlier had requested the BCCI to release Rs. 1.5 crore for the Australian team’s stay who will be in the city for the preparations of the ODI series which will be taking off on September 17th at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. The BCCI has reportedly agreed to pay the costs directly to the vendors through TNCA.

“The Board wrote to us today that it would pay the actuals for the Australian team’s stay here. The Board will pay directly to the vendors. The TNCA will source its vendors to them.” A reliable source told Sportstar on Thursday.

Earlier, a TNCA official was quoted by Times of India about their request to BCCI for the funds in advance. “We need to provide adequate security for the entire duration. They also play a practice match on September 12. Transportation for practice match and practice sessions on all days need to be arranged. It’s difficult to do it with Rs 1 lakh (funds conferred by the BCCI to the TNCA).”

Australians to stay in Chennai for ten days.

Australia, who lost their first of the two-match Test series against Bangladesh, will play in the 2nd Test starting on 4th September. The players will travel to India after 8th including the players from down under who are not part of the Test squad in Bangladesh. The Aussies will also feature in a warm-up match in Chennai which will be played on September 12th.

TNCA will have to provide five-star hotel stay for the visiting team and tight security before they leave for the next ODI on September 18. The 5-match ODI series will conclude on October 2nd and will be followed by a 3-match T20I series played on 7, 10 and 13 of October.
